woman's face 1-24-11

Well here a picture I drew from a woman's face in a magazine. I am working hard on trying to draw people, especially their faces. I showed this to my husband and he felt the face seemed kinda squished. I can see that. But at first I didn't feel that way. I thought it looked great until he said something. He just said that I am getting better. So more people to come but still working on other stuff too.

Well I attempted a watercolor picture. It is actually watercolor pencils. I had funn. I just love going over things with pen. To me it gives it that extra pop. I know it may look kinda childish but that's okay because it is a first for me. I would love to illustrate children's books someday. Have to work on that one !

Need some supplies

Well I am going to take my 5 yr old with me to get some supplies tonight at Michael's. I really need a small sketchpad. I have been workign with my huge drawing pad and frankly it is not working. Maybe then I can carry it with me and do more sketching and drawing outside of home where things are limited. Also need to get a new pack of the different pencils so I am not sonstantly trying to adjust my pressure with the #2 pencils or erasing to get the line lighter. I think you artists out there know what I am talking about. Now the only thing I have to remember is that I am going in there for just 2 things, maybe 4. He he !

I am hoping to get some more work posted. Actually just get some more practice in is what I am hoping to do. It's been years since school and I have to kinda relearn some of my skills. Been checking out videos online and articles. So far soemthings are clicking. You knwo the talent has always been there but I just need to learn hwo to use it. Well wish me luck !

We've been sick at home here with colds so the past almost week has been kinda dull in the "me time" area.

Well I am working on my people skills. Ha ! Ha ! This is drawn with a #2 pencil. Boy I did lots of erasing. My husband liked it and my 5 yr old didn't tell me it looked weird this time. So I guess I am improving.

This is a portrait of my 2 yr old.

I know it looks a little weird but people are not my stron suit at all but I am trying and letting you see my progress along the way. Hope you like them or atleast can have a good laugh if need be. Just be honest in your comments but if you must say something negative please say something positive too. EX. I really don't like the teeth, she looks scarey. But on a better note I love the big brown eyes. LOL !

I wanted to try something in pen to see how it will go. Sometimes I can be a perfectionist and I want to get myself to understand that it is okay to make mistrakes. Although I did draw it carefully. Sometimes I really need to learn to let go and let it flow. Especially wwhen it comes to art.

Well all, this is my first real drawing in years. I have done some things for my daughters preschool class but nothing with shading . I have to say that it feels good to be getting back into things. I really missed drawing and all forms of art really. Most medium, I need to still practice at but when it comes to a pencil, just hand me some paper and I am ready to go.
